Hydrographer – Seattle, Washington

Apply for this position

Participate in planning, conducting, processing hydrographic surveys from field to finish.
Provide geodetic control & hydrographic surveying services for client projects based on
contracts requiring hydrographic services requiring an American Congress on Surveying
and Mapping (ACSM) certified Hydrographer or FIG/IHO/ICA Category A Hydrographer.
Perform hydrographic data collection & processing efforts per project specs. & co.’s
operating procedures. Select appropriate acquisition equipment & software, collect data in
field, verify accuracy of same, & prepare charts, plots, maps, records, documents and
deliverables related to hydrographic survey. Conduct ADCP mooring configuration,
surface navigation, LBL, USBL, geophysical & seismic data collection & processing.
Select, requisition, set up & configure data collection instruments required for
hydrographic survey. Operate collection instruments to accumulate required data &
process hydrographic data via various methods incl. multi beam, single beam, side scan, &
sub bottom profilers. Install, configure, operate acquisition software & hardware.
Calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, maintain surveying equipment incl. single beam sounders,
multibeam sounders, sidescan, & applicable Motion Reference Units. Analyze, process
data using project specified software packages. Participate in mobilizing & demobilizing
of vessels & other survey equipment in field. Review GPS differential correction source &
software to ensure configuration is correct. Conduct research to plan survey operations.
Work closely w/ project manager to write, proof project reports & prepare other
deliverables. Verify, compile, process, prepare data to delineated electronic drawing format
as specified by Project Mngr. or contract requirements.

Required:
Bachelor in Geomatics, Marine Science, Hydrographic Science, or related field + 2 yrs.
performing hydrographic surveys using Multibeam systems, Sidescan Sonars, and Caris
HIPs & SIPs processing software. Must have ACSM hydrographer certification or
FIG/IHO/ICA Category A hydrographer certification. Travel: 35% to U.S. coastal offshore
waters & 10% to offshore internatl. waters. Pre-employment drug screen & background
